Application as an Approved Training Employer

Non MICPA Member Firms

A firm that does not have any MICPA member as a partner that wishes to become an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) under Stream II must comply with the following requirements of the Institute.

  1. The firm must have at least one partner who is a member of MIA with a valid practising certificate and who is a member of one of the following approved accountancy bodies :

(a)    Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales

(b)    Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia

(c)    Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland

(d)    Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland

(e)    Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand

(f)    Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants

(g)    Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

(h)    American Institute of Certified Public Accountants

  1. The partner with the qualification described in paragraph 1 above and who has obtained at least three years of post qualification experience shall be eligible to act as Training Supervisor for registered students of the Institute.
  2. The firm must be able to provide the variety of work experience for the registered students employed by the firm and must be able to commit adequate resources to supervising, training and counseling the students.

If the firm has met the requirements of the Institute, it may submit a formal application to the Institute for authorisation as an ATO under Stream II when it wishes to recruit students who intend to pursue the MICPA qualification.
